So you may have noticed I haven't been on DA lately. Or not, but either way I had to take a bit of a hiatus from posting. I've pretty much had one string of shit to deal with after another. This has made for a very bad month.
First, my mom was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. She's fine now, but not until after a week-long stay followed up with a major surgery and another week of being bedridden. It was a bit surreal. I haven't seen her in the hospital since my brother was born 20 years ago. As I said, luckily she's fine now.
Second, I haven't been employed for months now. Not from lack of trying, the job market just sucks that much. I've filled out dozens of job applications and only landed one interview. Things were looking up and I thought I was going to get hired at UPS, but that didn't happen. Also, my temp job got canceled on me. I've found myself back at square one.
After a few days of being incredibly frustrated with this business, I found my hands turning a lovely shade of periwinkle the other day. My knuckles, blue as the night sky. My hands were weak and ached. After a few hours of this going on, I feared I was either having some sort of bizzare form of stroking out or I was turning into a smurf. Suffice to say, my Saturday night/Sunday morning was spent in the emergency room.
After being poked and prodded (and having my armpits, among other various places, ultrasounded for blood clots) the emergency room doctor said I have Raynaud's Syndrome. Basically because of stress, the blood vessels in my hands and feet constricted cutting off circulation. He sent me home saying I don't need medication, but that I need to have a follow up with a doctor to confirm diagnosis and see a hematologist, ect. I found out it's a common disease and not serious at all. I just need to keep myself from being stressed (ha!)
Either way, it's an entertaining story to tell.
"I was in the emergency room the other day."
"OMG, what happened?!"
" . . . I had blue hands."
To top this all off, my hard drive died on me. That turned out to be not so big a deal though since my laptop was still under warranty. Dell sent me a new one free of charge. It's just inconvenient more than anything else. I've been re-ripping cd's and getting my music library back to where it was. This has been a two day project. I had no idea I owned so much music. o_O Also I had the foresight to back up my important files before full system failure, so nothing was lost that would be missed.
I'm almost done with Operation: Get Music Back (imagination has been a bit lacking, excuse title) after which I will reinstall photoshop and get back to that art thing I like to do. By then I'll be ready to take up commissions again.
I'm also selling prints. If there's something not available through DA, note me and tell me which print you'd like and I'll see what I can do.

I'm going off to Academy of Arts University in San Francisco, doing a degree in Game Design. How do you think that university is? I read from many reviews that its bad :S I think the reviewers are the ones that got kicked out themselves :S
Your reply will be very much appreciated ^^
Thanks!

They tend to be really strict and picky with their foundations classes. Because of that, I've heard a lot of people complain about it not giving room for personal style. I think that's kind of a silly complaint because that's not what you should be doing that early on.
Also I've read that their acceptance rate is 100%, but their graduation rate is only 49%. Their workload is pretty rigorous, which I think is why half of the people drop out.
Like I said, I'm in illustration so I can't say about game design specifically. Overall I think the school is really good. I've improved a lot since going. Also I think game design is a new program there. I know someone who is interested in that program, so let me know how that goes. Either way, good luck.
